Saw a Linkedin post for Lazard Austin Summer Investment Banking analyst for their tech/venture financing. Knew they were rumored to start an office in Austin but I don’t know anyone there so it’s probably new. What’s the deal with the position and the work there?

Lazard hired Chancellor McRaven as a senior advisor and opened an office in Austin for him. Decided to use that as the location for their venture and growth group, which was originally started in London (hence plenty of English folks).
Overall, I’ve heard the VGB team is really good. Juniors I know love it there. Get to focus on early stage companies, mostly around fundraising but seems like a pretty good setup (plus Texas taxes!!!)
McRaven is part of LGA (Geopolitical Advisory) and happens to be based in Austin. The office there was not set up for him and he has nothing to do with VGB. VGB was initially set up in Europe by former Numis people.
