Career Resources
Based on the most helpful WSO content, Lazard's San Francisco office, particularly the tech M&A group, is well-regarded. While specific details about the technical interview for the Associate (ASO) role aren't explicitly mentioned, here are some insights that might help:
Group Performance: The Lazard SF tech M&A group is known for its strong deal flow, particularly in software, with less exposure to semiconductors and hardware. The team focuses on strategic advisory work for repeat clients, which means less pitching and more execution-heavy work.
Interview Preparation: While technical interviews for Lazard aren't detailed in the context, general advice for investment banking technical interviews includes:
Cultural Fit: The culture in Lazard SF is described as relatively "chill" compared to other firms, with good buy-side exits and corporate development placements, particularly in FAANG and unicorn companies.
For additional preparation, focus on tailoring your responses to the tech sector and Lazard's advisory strengths. Good luck with your interview!

Its good -- slightly trending downwards (not dramatically). still confidently a top 8 SF tech group
Which are the top?
Tier 1: Q, GS
Tier 2: MS, EVR
Tier 3: JPM, CVP, Laz, Moe
Makes top 8 as seen, imo. generally agreed upon
Laz tech sucks lol they barely do any deals and culture is bad so would avoid. High turnover
Completely untrue but to each their own
I work in the group and can affirm culture is good. Generally nice people across all levels, 2 days WFH, respect for employee wellbeing. The group is growing and has been hiring both analysts and associates as part of general headcount expansion and not due to employee turnover.
