Leaving firm - garden leave policy?
Hi all,
I am an analyst at a BB and am leaving for a role at a tech company completely unrelated to my coverage group. I gave notice today and they informed me I could not start at the new firm until 30 days after I leave the firm.
I don't see any sort of clause in my offer letter that stipulates this garden leave policy - does anyone know if this is standard? I didn't think this would be applicable to anyone at the junior level and have seen people start in PE roles earlier than 30 days.
Any advice on how to navigate this would be incredibly helpful - thanks in advance!
As far as I know, it is in your contract
generally*
I rarely see it at the analyst level
Worse come to worst use it as a way to score a two-week vacation.
Eh if your new company doesn't have a problem with pushing the date back, enjoy some vacation time on your bank's dime. If not, and this isn't explicitly in your contract, tell them to pound sand.
