Anyone knows about the hc services practices at Leerink? Saw no deals closed on their website but analysts there recently lateraled to Moelis M&A/MS M&A/Jefferies HC... Is this considered as a solid group to join?
SVB Leerink has been actively involved in significant transactions, particularly in the healthcare sector. They advised on the $3.3 billion sale of Dicerna to Novo Nordisk, showcasing their capability in handling large-scale deals in the healthcare industry. Additionally, their recent expansion into technology, with the advising on the $5.4 billion sale of Quest Software to Clearlake Capital, indicates a growing competence in tech-related financial services as well.
Regarding the healthcare services practices specifically at Leerink, while the context does not provide details about closed deals on their website or the return rate for past summers, the lateral moves of analysts to prestigious firms like Moelis M&A, MS M&A, and Jefferies HC suggest that Leerink is considered a solid group to join. These transitions imply that the experience and exposure gained at Leerink are valuable and recognized within the industry, making it a potentially good career move.
Not sure what time period those laterals occurred, but it had deal flow up until last year when there was an exodus of senior bankers. I cannot imagine you will get good reps at anything outside of Biopharma at Leerink any longer.
Yes that makes sense - some of them joined at summer 2022 so probly had some experiences, but two guys who joined at summer 23 and lateraled to Moelis M&A and HL hc within a year and I don't know how they did it

Those laterals occured in recent 6 months
How long were they at SVB? They probably got a few deals done if they had been there for at least a year or longer.
