LevFin to RX?

Analyst 1 here. Assuming I want to explore RX or distressed / SS seats down the line, but my current bank doesn't have an RX team, would LevFin be the best stepping stone (my LevFin team am reviews the LBO models so good technical exposure on debt)? Or would staying in generalist M&A with exposure to larger deals still be preferable?

Also, at what seniority does it become significantly harder to lateral into RX without prior restructuring experience? Would moving as an Associate still be realistic if u don’t have any direct exposure to that product prior?

I know this is quite broad, especially given how limited RX seats are. Just trying to understand whether it's worth to keep spending time learning RX on the side or if it’s lowkey unrealistic given the highly competitive nature of that product.

Would appreciate any thoughts, especially from people who've made similar moves.
