Life at a Semi-Target is Paradise (USC/Michigan/A&M)

I feel like my college story so far is a movie that will be shown in movie theaters one day.

I'm a sophomore at a fantastic semi-target school—think USC, Michigan, or A&M—and I'm thrilled to share that I've just secured a summer 2025 investment banking internship in NYC. This offer was a game-changer, and it came about after a family friend noticed my passion for finance and recommended me for an interview. Networking really does pay off!

Choosing to attend a semi-target school has been nothing short of paradise. I get the electrifying energy of big college sports, the social life of active Greek life, and an education that keeps up with the best of them. What's not to love? My days are a blend of engaging classes and vibrant social events. Balancing academics with attending the biggest college games and throwing unforgettable parties has taught me how to manage my time effectively—something I know will be crucial in the high-stakes world of investment banking.

Looking ahead, I'm beyond excited to dive into the world of finance, where I'm confident that my hard work will quickly pay off. The prospect of making $200k right out of college is incredibly motivating. Not only will it allow me to support myself in one of the world's most dynamic cities, but it will also enable me to enjoy the lifestyle I've always dreamed of—living in a buzzing metropolis where the work is as thrilling as the nightlife.

So, for those of you grinding it out at the Ivies, remember there's more to college than just hitting the books hard. Here, I'm living proof that you can have an amazing college experience filled with the joys of campus life while still setting yourself up for a top-tier career in investment banking. In fact, I'd argue that learning to balance work and play at a place like this isn't just fun—it's strategic. By the time I hit the busy streets of New York, I'll be ready to crunch numbers and make the most of life in the big city, partying with friends and enjoying every moment. Isn't that what it's all about?

Love,

Incoming 2025 Summer Analyst @ Investment Bank
