Living in office?

My apartment lease expires soon. I have a private office at work with gym & shower and am considering setting up a permanent sleeping arrangement in my office (mattress under desk and I have a closet in office). Office door has a lock and I can install blinds / curtains for privacy. Office is in amazing location. Lots of free snacks in office. Would save a ton of money on rent. Trying to save up to eventually start a business in 2+ years.

What are people's thoughts? Should I go for it?

NOT A TROLL POST.

"Hey, do you want to come back to my place?"

....

"Why have you taken me to your office?"

Wags did it in Billions.

Smoke Frog:

Try it for a month and bail if it becomes too stressful. But man, you would save at least $60k post tax a year.

You pay 5K on rent?

Dooo itttt

Get a mini fridge, microwave and single plug in burner.

Another thing to consider is where to put all your stuff from your apt that doesn’t fit in your office. You could do:

a) storage.

b) get an apartment really far away and dirt cheap and then you can just store your stuff there and visit occasionally.

c) get an apartment with lots of roommates close by and just visit whenever. It could be fun - interview lots of people to find a chill group.

This is all in addition to your office living. I assume you work heavy hours or else I’d probably rather live in a real apt.

When I was in banking I heard about an analyst doing this in our LA office. They setup a cot with all their stuff in an unused storage closet way off in the corner which no one ever checked. Eventually they were found out and were very quickly fired on the spot.

it probably just comes down to how much does your employer need you? Do you think you carry enough weight in the office to justify this? Or do you think they’d cut you loose? How long have you been with the firm?
