London AC Case Study

Hi everyone,

got my first AC coming up for an Off-Cycle IB role in London. Naturally, I am shitting myself and was wondering if somebody could speak more about the case study part of ACs.

In particular, will I be expected to pull together a PPT presentation (I have 90 min prep time and 30 min for presentation) or will I just have to discuss my analysis with whoever is assessing me? Prep time seems to be a bit short for a full blown deck but you never know. Also, will I receive all the information I need to answer the case or is it expected that I have access to MergerMarket, CapIQ or Pitchbook to pull data like trading or transaction multiples?

Cheers for any and all insights!

Yes, highly likely that you are asked to put together 3-5 slides which you then go over while presenting to your assessor. Content > formatting

I don’t think I have ever heard of a case study where you had to access additional sources besides what’s given in the case material.

You will probably get financials, some market overview and maybe a section about the companies‘ strategy. Then you are asked to condense that info and come up with a recommendation (if it is an M&A case). The last part is actually super important, so make sure you clearly state your recommendation and be ready to back it up.
