London - failed to convert spring- next steps/advice?

Semi-target, woman, had 4 springs - two at BBs such as GS.

I had one chance for conversion. It’s not an official rejection but seems like it is as most offers have been given out. Prepped so fucking hard for technicals which went well & I was kind of rambling due to nerves in my behavioural interview but overall was fine and made a connection with one interviewer. Didn’t realise how much emphasis London BBs place on fit/culture than technicals.

Just wanted to know how shafted I am for summers. I’m very lucky to get springs in the first place but there’s no point in springs if you can’t convert them. Some say it’s a disadvantage putting them on your cv if you can’t convert them.

I want to be positive and move forward but I don’t really know how. I really wished I converted this spring and the fact that I didn’t has made me extremely disappointed.

Don't worry about it. With springs applying for summer you're in a better position than 90% of other applicants without any "experience".

But yes, at least you've learned how important behavioral interviews are. A lot of people assume they can bs through because they've heard stories of people doing so, but it's best to prepare as hard for those as technicals.

Don't worry, springs are not the be all and end all. I got an SA at a BB in 2022 after the market went to shit without any springs. You're in a good position.

However, you better hope the market picks up a bit. Many firms for 2023 SA went with almost exclusively their SW converts and those who weren't already had internship expensive.

Sorry to hear that it didn’t work out this time. By the sound of things, you’re as on top of things as possible. focus on exams for the time being and trust the process. You’ve been successful in the process before and with continued hard work, shouldn’t be an issue. Of course it’s annoying and long, but just a bump in the road. I believe in you!

1. It's a spring. Not the end of the world. Plenty of people do not do springs let alone convert them and still get summers. I think only 1/3-1/5 of my analyst class was ex-spring intern at my bank.

3. Technicals were never going to be big at spring. Heck they're not even big at summer interviews except maybe at some EBs. They care way more about if you're likeable, normal, and show passion/graft rather than some robot who can recite EV calculation.

But bottom line is, nothing can be done now so don't focus on what has happened. Focus on the year ahead of you.

You feel bad now but honestly a BB spring, let alone multiple springs make you better than most applicants - as some others had rightly said.

I didn't get any springs, any summers and went to a non-target.

Your way ahead of the curve, just focus on getting a good SA and start prepping now.

Can I DM you - also will be attending a semi-target + wanting to ask on how you prepared your applications (if possible)

Keep your head up though, springs at the very, very least showcase your initiative in 1st year + have given you some form of exposure to them. Plus, you've not 100% got rejected yet - so hopefully something comes through!

Regardless, even if not, I think if you're as proactive as you are currently you will be sure to land summers.
