Long Island City or Jersey City as an IB Analyst?

I’m thinking of which neighborhood to live in while working in IB as an analyst. I’ve seen some decent deals in Long Island city and Jersey city for 2bds (will get roommates). Anyone currently or previously rent in these places? What’d you like and dislike about these neighborhoods? Was it too far from the office?

My office is in midtown if that matters

LIC is the much better choice, if you live near the 7 or ACE then it’s a pretty quick commute into midtown (~15min) while Jersey City will take 35-45min.

LIC IMO. Much better connectivity to Manhattan and much, much better food than JC. JC connects to FiDi which... isn't the best place for food, while LIC gives easy access to Astoria, Greenpoint, Flushing, and Jackson Heights which has some of the best food in the world. Also very easy access to midtown / UES if you want to go somewhere fancier.

I will say I miss the walkability of Manhattan - i.e., being able to just walk places without having to take the train over the bridge (even if the train is quick). I also have a lot of friends in Queens / BK but if your social circle is mostly in Manhattan you will lose on the spontaneity of meeting up with people / hanging out.
