Long-term Banking vs PE

Recent discussions and comp changes in IB have prompted me to consider whether I would prefer a long-term banking career as opposed to PE

1) Have you considered extending your time in IB instead of jumping off into PE?

2) Which banks would you want to be with long-term? I realize that WSO tends to rank banks based on exit opps, but in removing this factor I assume preferences will vary to some degree.
