Los Angeles EB Scene

Currently a 1st year analyst and looking to recruit for EBs in LA. I know Moelis is the top shop in LA but looking to see how PWP, Centerview, and Lazard stack up against each other. Looking to learn more about deal flow, pay, prestige, and culture.

PWP focuses on industrials M&A; Lazard works on aerospace & defense M&A; no idea what centerview’s LA office does. Based on culture and deal flow, I heard PWP and Lazard are pretty great. But based on exits, Lazard’s analysts have done much better than PWP. I think a lot of this is bc PWP’s LA office only kicked off 5 years ago and is still a pretty new group

Moelis is the top shop in LA, and is generalist but has a heavy focus on Media & telecom and C&R M&A. Lazard LA is very strong, has a Media & Gaming as well as ADG in the office. Media & Gaming is solid, and ADG has very strong dealflow, the office makes a killing on middle market sponsor sell-sides. Culture in the office is great as well from what I've heard. PWP LA is Industrials, and is smaller than Lazard and Moelis LA, but they're really solid and have great large-cap and mid-cap deal flow. I didn't even know CVP had an LA office.

The RX group is the top in the city for what they do, their regular IB division focuses in Business Services and does a lot of MM work
