Low Cost Areas in NYC?

Hey Guys, I am a senior that received a FT for IB in NYC and am now looking for a place to live. Ideally, I'd love to find a studio apartment but not have to pay too much. Does anybody have any recommendations? Any areas that are known for being particularly inexpensive? Thanks

RagnarDanneskjoldFiDi or Hoboken if you're strapped.

whats FiDi?

"...the art of good business, is being a good middle man, putting people togeather. It's all about honor and respect."

  1. Get roommates
  2. Convert an apartment (put up a wall to add a bedroom).
  3. Check out FiDi, Battery Park, or Tribeca if you work downtown. If midtown or uptown you might want to head to upper upper east.
  4. Last resort commute in from Hoboken (really not that terrible) or Brooklyn.

BobbHoboken really isn't that cheap as well. Plenty of people I know are paying more then their counterparts in NYC.
Gotta pay to play (with hipster chicks).

If you're a banker...living in Hoboken is downright embarrasing.

It's not feasible at all.

IF YOU'RE IN BANKING , YOU'RE LIVING IN MANHATTAN. PERIOD.

AT 4AM, IT'S NOT GOING TO BE FUN TO COMMUTE TO NJ OR THE BURROUGHS

AMEN, I am

its one way or the other: hate me or admire.

I second the UWS, especially if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the subway, you can find good deals west of Columbus Ave and north of 72nd street. It has a pretty decent bar scene too and the 2/3 almost never shuts down.

How long does it take to get from Midtown to Hoboken by car, cab, public? It's about 7 miles right?
