LSE MSc - Still targeted?
Anyone have any insight on the above. Placement this year isn’t great at all compared to LBS/HEC even tho the class is pretty big (across F/F&PE,A&F,R&F)

Issue with LSE MSc is you are competing against the LSE undergrads who are as smart and committed (if not more) as you and banks have a defined number of slots for each schools
Solid take, LSE Msc is still a strong target, but the competition is too skewed and strong
Defined number of slots? Is it only minimum or maximum?
Maximum, i am sure there are way more people applying than their maximum
Good take! However, you can beat them with experience. If you are doing a master's in finance @ LSE and you already have 1-2 IB summer internships under your belt (preferably BBs or EBs) which you converted, you will undoubtedly get more looks than an LSE student who failed to convert their spring weeks.
Not if you’re Indian/ Asian, as an Indian i have multiple friends who attended the program and have been in contact with other Indians there too, sad to see someone who went to target uk undergrad+ lse ms+ multiple bb internships still unemployed for 2 years, also can blame them for waiting it out for on cycle for 2 years rather than taking up something else which is not IB, and a few other friends are back here in India and could only land Big4 M&A/ transactions
A lot of masters students attempting to do the 'Masters Glitch' with a bad undergrad and no previous internships feeling as if they are entitled to a BB/EB placement due to LSE brand.
I cannot even begin to count the number of students that said to me "yeah bro I might do a masters" when asked why they got no SA/SW
How does the "Master's Glitch" work if one has prior IB exp (regional shops) and an okay UG?
That would be an okay situation when a Msc might fit, but I would still recommend off-cycle or other roles before Masters.
A lot of kids are spending 40k and becoming underemployed because its IB or nothing
I’ve noticed this too, all of a sudden there’s an uptick in people who are at least considering doing a masters. I don’t know if I’m doing a “masters glitch” but I’ve got IB exp at a no-name boutique and a EU CIB and a U.K. non-target undergrad — would a masters be worth it in my situation?
I think the market also just sucks right now frankly
