Based on previous WSO threads, here's what you need to know:

  • LSE MSc Programs: LSE is traditionally considered a target school for finance roles, including front office positions. However, placement success can vary year to year and across different programs.
  • Comparison with LBS/HEC: While LSE remains a strong contender, it's noted that LBS and HEC have had better placement rates in some recent years. This could be due to various factors including the size of the class, the specific focus of the programs, and the networking opportunities available.
  • Program Size and Specialization: The larger class size at LSE might dilute the individual attention students receive, potentially impacting placement rates. Programs like Finance and Private Equity (F&PE), Accounting and Finance (A&F), and Risk and Finance (R&F) might have different outcomes based on industry demand and alumni networks.

For a more detailed and specific analysis, it would be beneficial to look at recent placement reports or connect with current students and alumni from these programs.

Issue with LSE MSc is you are competing against the LSE undergrads who are as smart and committed (if not more) as you and banks have a defined number of slots for each schools

Solid take, LSE Msc is still a strong target, but the competition is too skewed and strong

Not if you’re Indian/ Asian, as an Indian i have multiple friends who attended the program and have been in contact with other Indians there too, sad to see someone who went to target uk undergrad+ lse ms+ multiple bb internships still unemployed for 2 years, also can blame them for waiting it out for on cycle for 2 years rather than taking up something else which is not IB, and a few other friends are back here in India and could only land Big4 M&A/ transactions

A lot of masters students attempting to do the 'Masters Glitch' with a bad undergrad and no previous internships feeling as if they are entitled to a BB/EB placement due to LSE brand.

I cannot even begin to count the number of students that said to me "yeah bro I might do a masters" when asked why they got no SA/SW

That would be an okay situation when a Msc might fit, but I would still recommend off-cycle or other roles before Masters.

A lot of kids are spending 40k and becoming underemployed because its IB or nothing
