Lying on Resume

How common is it to stretch the truth on resume bullet points? I’m not talking about making up a work experience / extracurricular, or even just polishing the wording to make bullets sound better.

I mean claiming responsibilities you didn’t really have, such as things that could have been true, but weren’t. For example: as an intern, saying you built a DCF or LBO model for a pitch, when in reality you only worked on a few slides that included it.

How common is this across top schools and the broader IB recruiting landscape?

Have any of you ever bent the truth like that on your resume?

I’m a former UBS Tech banker here and had to lie to get my next role. Felt my deal experience wasn’t enough relative to my industry experience
