M&A Structuring Group

Does anyone have any information on what this group does? I see that it exists at a few banks but i'm not quite sure what the role of the group is. It seems like it isn't necessarily a technical group because it's not just a traditional M&A group but it seems pretty interesting.

Anyone have any information?

I know someone at a BB (around the VP level from memory) who has a similar role - think it has a lot to do with the structuring elements of the deal e.g. legal/accounting/tax related. This guy had a rep for knowing takeover law really well and was able to put it to use and add value when executing deals. Don't think it's one open to junior bankers as much as it relies more on having a lot of M&A experience and an understanding of the nuances in execution (the aspects mentioned above like legal/accounting/tax, but also payment structures like earnouts etc.)
