MacCap Real Estate Group

Has anyone out there has recently applied for an analyst position with MacCap in their Real Estate group, or are there any analysts currently working in said group at the moment? I have a few questions below;

1) What is the interview process like? 2) What are the comps for a 1st, 2nd year analyst? 3) What is the culture like?

Would truly appreciate it if someone out there is able to provide insights. Thanks.

Same as the interviews for the rest of Macquarie. The head of the group is just looking to beef up on analysts as Mac got rid of its Associate class (for the most part) last year.

Base comp is the same as street, bonus will be below street until Mac gets its NI back up.

Its an Aussie firm, the group is fairly laid back compared to other banks.

Just look at any of my posts about Macquarie, they are all relevant to these questions.

I had a phone interview with HR and her super shitty connection that exacerbates the aussie accent. then they make you drive out and take an SATish assessment at a testing center close to you. you get a free $5 starbucks gift card! i got dinged after that so it's all i know.

Souijuro77PowerMonkey, Yes I've looked at most of your other posts, but was hoping someone would be able to provide a little more inside info on the group.

SirBikealot, sorry to hear that. What group was this with?

It's a VERY small group, so it's really hard to comment on the culture. I've met a couple people in it, and they seemed fairly laid back. The comp will be the same as the rest of MacCap, but who knows what that means after they got hosed last year.

I also did the interview process once. So it started with a telephone interview with HR for about 30 min. After that I was invited to take a comprehensive 3 hours test at one of their offices. Having succeeded at the test you are invited for a face-to-face interview with bankers. Here I talked to two people for almost 2 hours. This is the last stage in the process. I did not get the internship offer so that is all I can tell.

Yes, they do manage those assets. They also try to get comanaging deals in ECM from their extremely poor ER that they have started on the REIT sector.

The current RE group was formed from the old property group (REITs and principal investing) and the old REG (managing bad assets). They also compete for MM property deals and other fun things. They are, however a good group of guys. PM me with specific questions on the group if you really want info.
