Macquarie Analyst Pay
Pay data for Macquarie is all over the place. MacCap (the IB arm) saw a drop on revenue YoY. I’d love to hear a bit more about total comp for analysts at MacCap NY, since I’ll be joining full time.
Thanks in advance!

You don't wanna work here - last year they chopped half their interns, and laid off tons of their analysts.
They have been paying below street for as long as I’m aware, including recently. Bases are street but bonuses are lower. If you progress past your first or second year they also have a ridiculous bonus retention policy that kicks in at a relatively low bonus level.
They justify it by saying they have a “good culture”. Don’t drink the cool aid, leverage your experience to go to another platform.
In multiple, normal years, they laid off a ton of first year analysts including when they cut groups (ie non performance related).
Since then, the guy who was running IB in the US has been promoted to global head.
Is this just MacCap or would you say MIRA experienced the same thing?
I believe it is systematic across all of Macquarie, with as much confidence as you can get without working in HR. However, I have less insight into MIRA.
For what it’s worth, I heard Analyst2 in Aus is 120k base and 70-90k bonus
Any info on their S&T / CGM division?
Just raised their pay across all levels. 110AN2, 130AN3, 175AS with 60-100% bonus based on bucket
Damn so nothing for the A1!?
AN1 would be 105
The bonus range is more like 30% - 60%
Do you base that off of experience? Do you know anything about associate comp?
what is A1 base?
Where did you hear this? These numbers don't include AN1 pay and don't align with what's been circulated on Instagram since last week. As an incoming, I can say that we've heard nothing of a pay bump as of yet.
WYM circulating on Instagram? I'm also a bit skeptical because I'm incoming and have yet to hear anything.
Have you heard anything yet?
Do you know by any chance when return offers with be given out. Last year the wait was intense. I'm a returning SA so I don't what to expect this year.
has the new base raises been communicated across all regions?
Presume this is not as helpful as this is a US-centric forum, but have heard from a close friend that MacCap AU raised AN1 base to 200k AUD. Some commentary around overtime compensation being worked into the base (might have been legal troubles relating to wages in AU?), which sounds a lot like an excuse to cut bonuses
Weren't they increasing superannuation in AU and some banks like Macquarie were putting that increase onto their employees?
Base was 120 before so I can’t imagine it’s just superannuation (9.0% to 9.5% / 9.5% to 10.0% of base comp)
I’ve heard that A1 bonuses are the same across the analyst class. What does the USD amount look like?
I saw someone else post this on a different post but I believe they ballparked it at 45k being the highest. I'm not entirely sure if this is pretax or post.
That sucks. We’ll see what happens next year across the street now that base is higher
