We have like 6 analysts / associates that are female. My advice is to keep your distance most are crazy and strung out.
yes only females are EA, ratio for non-support staff is total shit
its actually quite unfortunate from a diversity point of view. i personally think there should be more emphasis on getting women than the other programs they currently have in place.
that will lead to a ton of really unqualified people getting in unless they really encourage more women to apply. women get a bit of an edge as it is - if you ever see the resume books banks get (or at least the one my bank got), they are even more of a sausage fest than the group that actually makes it into banking.
thats true but a sacrifice im willing to make to get more women into banking and even the playing field.

even if we accepted literally every girl who applied at my bank who had at least a 3.0 gpa i don't think we would have had a 50/50 ratio
It's a sausage fest because girls care how much a guy makes and guys care about how hot girls are (not true in every instance, but it works as a rule). Why the fuck would anyone go into banking if they weren't in it for the money? Girls as a rule don't go into careers that suck your life away in exchange for cash cause it just isn't worth it for them -more power to them in my opinion to be totally honest.
If a girl is good looking enough, they don't need to do a job like IBD because they can attract whatever guy they want in the end. Most women I have met in banking are just ugly nerds that I would never touch, no matter how many all nighters I've pulled. If they are good looking and working in banking, they are just plain crazy.
Wait until you actually start working. After long periods of no sleep, your mind starts playing tricks on you.

Who cares if they work with girls or not? If I'm working at a fabric testing facility that is testing bathing suits, then I want to work with a bunch of girls, but my (limited) interaction with WS type girls has been underwhelming, and judging by other folks responses I have no yearning to sit in a cube down the way from a cranky chick. That's not to say they are all going to be cranky because I have met some cool ones, but I am more concerned about working with someone that I can get along with and who pulls their weight, so unless the chick has those traits and is smoking hot, then I would rather work guys because they are far less temperamental and they're emotionally stable.
P.S. Sorry for stereotyping all the normal girls into the crazy category, but you probably already know that you are a very rare creature.

Well I worked in an office of 10 over the summer and there were 0 girl bankers. The group I'm going to this summer has about 30 bankers and again, 0 girls.
I wish I was a native american girl that is a first generation student and living in poverty.
Larger banks have more diversity recruiting. In particular, BAML, JPM and Citi all have fairly high percentages of females in their IB analyst classes. In the senior ranks, it's still a male-dominated profession, however.

Maybe 30:1 in banking. They dominate the secretary division. Nobody gets coffee better than women; nobody.
This is probably too low.. but at a certain point, we're talking about a trivial difference. There aren't a lot of women, at least in the investment-banking division proper. You'll see better ratios in capital markets (particularly on the equity side), and in sales.

I'd say 15:1 male-to-female. I haven't seen one I would describe as particularly attractive; most look average, but professional.
Also haven't seen any difference in how they handle the hours. As for settling down, they aren't under any pressure to do so - but marrying a MD probably sounds a lot better than working as one.
We are around 40 bankers on my floor and 4 of them are women. Pretty shitty ratio, I would love to have some more good looking female analysts. In terms of look, they are ok but nothing special.
Printing support, secretaries, reception and HR is dominated by women though and especially the HR staff is pretty attractive.
my bank is full of hotties in equity sales...
The analyst class at my school was 45:2 this year for IBD.

I have met some HOT female bankers from JP Morgan in NY, but hot female bankers are hard to find... Are they just rare or getting extinct???
I would say they don't exist since you have to be a fucking geek to go to a top tier school and on top of that get good grades. Hot chicks are out here at my big public school playing beer pong, getting fucked and studying shit like nursing and elementary education, not accounting or finance...

Sales and Trading has a lot of hot chicks
One good looking girl in my whole class of 95 at a BB...however some of the sales girls and corporate bankers are smoking.
