Meal Stipend in banking
Got an offer to join front office (DCM) as a lateral from middle office. First time receiving an offer, but I wasn't able to see any mention of meal stipends that are discussed in this forum (ex. $25 dinner) or mention of any target bonus I'll be getting.
Would these information be later discussed by HR or my manager?
Meal stipends usually aren’t discussed in an offer negotiation process, but they’ll detail it during your onboarding. Something weird I have noticed though is that some banks don’t give their capital markets teams a meal stipend, although I believe the majority do.
Echoing above. If you’re in IG DCM, I doubt you’re gonna be working past a certain time to qualify for the meal stipend.
I don’t know why I was downvoted lol. I hope it wasn’t OP. I literally have first hand experience in IG DCM and they barley work over 8 pm so they never get the chance to use the stipend. Don’t take it as an insult.
no idea why people shit on DCM and ECM, there are so many opportunities from those groups with way less stress. fuckin nerds on this site be thinking there's some sort of invisible tallying for suffering extra on a coverage or M&A group, so fucking stupid
Dude, it's GS TMT or bust.
I'll actually be in syndicated loans so opportunities might somewhat be more limited D;
Agreed, people on this site talk down to DCM/ECM, for reasons I don’t know.
I took the typical M&A route out of college, typical money hungry kid. Soon realized why not have a WAY better work/life balance and still make a very good living.
