Media as Coverage
Currently a mid-level associate (ignore title) and wanted to get thoughts on covering the Media / Entertainment sector from an investment banking perspective long-term.
It seems like there are a lot of trends conducive to M&A in the space (financialization of sports industry, strategic alternatives and subsequent M&A for the large, indebted entertainment conglomerates, emerging technologies that have led to structural industry change), but wanted to ask if folks with experience in the sector think there’s white space / opportunity for coverage for anyone interested in being an MD in the space.
I realize deal flow probably won’t be as ample as sectors like tech, P&I, industrials, healthcare that are broad and benefit from strong secular tailwinds, but wondering if there’s enough of an emerging fee pool to stay in the sector long-term and generate a steady stream of revenue.
Thanks in advance!
