Media & Entertainment Banks

Does anyone know of any banks with good media & entertainment groups? I realize the BBs have TMT groups, but I'm talking more specifically about boutique banks. For location, it doesn't really matter, though NYC, San Francisco, and LA would be best. Thanks.

i am sure you knew this one was coming. Allen & Co. I actually don't know how good they are, but I heard that they specialize in this industry and people say it's up there.

The company doesn't have a website (if you search for one, you will find a company that has a similar name and it's a wealth manager...not the same).

A, good old Allen & Co. Had heard about them but completely forgot about them. I don't really anticipate attempting to work there, but how would one generally come into contact with Allen & Co.? Through campus recruiting, or do you have to go to one of their alma maters and contact them? Sounds like a pretty tough gig to land.

I would also be open to hearing about M&E PE firms.

ib-wannabe, I came across DeSilva as well. It looks like a decent shop.

GCA Savvian also looks to have decent deal flow. Do they hire analysts? Based on the number of MDs and VPs in their U.S. offices I would assume they do, but they do not mention them.

breakingbankersFriends interned at Allen and Co primarily through alumni contacts. In fact, the alums contacted the student. My impression is that the position is VERY selective. Not sure how one would initiate recruiting without a prior contact or being contacted.

I read an article a while back and it painted a picture that only friends of the families of the current employees every really get selected. The whole article just harped on family ran business, friends of family, tight knit family, etc.

Good luck with that.

I was actually about to make this exact same thread. I'm going to be a SA at a BB, but was curious about researching media & entertainment banks/ pe shops.

A few I've found are VSS (PE) and Montgomery & Co (only in LA). I read a great article on Allen- it seems like it is mostly through contacts, and they don't really have many (if any) analysts (also I thought it was interesting that Bill Bradley is now an MD there).

Are there any BBs that have a particularly renowned media & entertainment practice (whether it is separate or within their TMT group)?
