Messed up on networking email, how screwed am I?

Let me start off by saying I know I’m a fucking idiot and I majorly messed up. So I have a gmail template for sending out networking emails to analysts, basically just requesting a call with them. Well I sent like 6 of these emails out this morning to analysts at the same bank just requesting a call. Turns out I forgot to change the subject line for all 6 so it’s the title of the template “ib call request template”. One of the analysts responded already and was very kind, told me she’d be happy to do a call, but mentioned that I should watch my subject lines. How screwed am I for this bank and how should I respond to that email?

Why are you emailing 6 analysts at the same bank at the same time in the first place? Anyway you're screwed

The girl who responded is interested in speaking, just thank her for the advice and go through the motions of setting up a time to speak. Most people you sent it too will have already forgot the email ever happened. I would just recommend having good prospective on why you have attention to detail because you demonstrated a lack of it.

I think there's 2 grains to look at here.

1) We've been there. Any analyst who says otherwise is a total liar. We've all had a typo in an email, wrong time on the invite, whatever. We laugh at those things and give you a break. At least most of the time. Not the end of the world

2) Point 1 relies on the mistake not being colossal. It's the word template that's a problem. Not the end of the world but at the same time you're asking these people to pass you along and move you up to higher ups. They have no loyalty to you. Literally none. If she made a point about it, then you're entering the chat in a grey tone. Not that she would be mean on the call, but you're going to be known as the kid who fucked up his subject line.

let this be a learning experience. I hope this wasn't a bank with all of your eggs in it. Always always always do a checklist on emails: 1) name spelling matches who it is addressed to 2) is it addressed to the right person 3) is subject correct 4) do I have my attachments 5) typos in body. Check these 5 things and you can never lose. Write it out on a sticky and have it on your computer until you have it to memory.

To answer your question more directly, it isn't great. Not the end of the world but you can't hold it against them if they aren't thrilled about you. That's super shallow but welcome to the business. Just try your best and come with great questions.
