Mexico Deal Experience

I work for a boutique investment bank in the Midwest and we are considering taking on a sell-side engagement for a Mexican manufacturing company. We have done a few international deals, mostly in Canada, and all have gone smoothly in regards to our contract being honored.

I was wondering if anyone has worked on Mexican deals and, if so, and am curious as it how it went....did you get paid etc.? Obviously, some still associate Mexico with the Wild-Wild West, but I'm curious to see if that's actually true.

I've done business in Mexico and it's fine. As long as you're dealing with a good company you'll get paid and the legal system's decent so you recourse in the courts if not. You actually have more legal recourse in Mexico than you do in China.

Although it's a small chance you want to make sure the company has no ties to the cartels. I'm my no means saying that every Mexican is involved in drugs but it's easier for the cartels to have interests in legit businesses there than it is here and you just don't want your reputation attached to that at all. There are dd companies that can help you check that out up front.
