Middle Market Commercial Banking Internship at BB or F500 Audit/Accounting Sophomore Internship?
Currently deciding between a Middle Market Commercial Banking role at a well known BB or a audit/accounting role at a F500, which role would be the most valuable for IB recruiting? Thanks.
u dont really call commercial banking at citi/boa/chase as commercial banking at a bb
just as u dont call working as a cashier at walmart/mcd as accounting/treasury at an f100...
Well, clearly you know nothing about commercial banking.
Commercial banking at a BB is a far different experience than commercial banking at a community bank or regional bank. Higher pay, potentially fast promotion schedule, and higher internal transferability (if he wanted to move to corporate banking/IB down the road).
Your cashier analogy is trash.
I'd go commercial banking, then maneuver/network within the company. You'd have to kill it though, and work on modeling and understanding of capital markets separately, assuming limited exposure. This depends on the shop.
