Minimizing Virtual Desktop Lag?
Summered in IB last year while at home. Didn’t mind the work, but the VDI software I used for my personal laptop was incredibly slow and disconnected every 15 minutes if I went to do house chores.
I’ve heard of using an ethernet cable and wired keyboard/mouse instead of the wireless options to help with the input lag. Any other ideas you guys are willing to share?
Also, any workarounds for making sure my VDI doesn’t time out? I need to do a two-factor authentication every time this happens and literally keeps me glued to my laptop. Thanks y’all
I had the same experience and there wasn’t much I could do. Tried Ethernet cables, upgrading my network package, upgrading my router, and calling my ISP to send an engineer to check the connection to my home. My internet was rock solid and all of the problems were coming from the bank’s slow servers.
Thanks for the response. Did your firm let you take home a laptop when everything went virtual? Or did you need to use your personal laptop?
Also, from what you’re telling me, it seems like it really doesn’t matter how good my own computer and network setup is, because it’s bottlenecked by the bank’s servers
If you're at C, we've updated the software now and it's much better
Atleast for the log out problem, you could get a mouse jiggler
Is there a specific mouse jiggler you recommend or would a cheap one from Amazon do the job fine?
You can put your mouse on a mechanical or quartz watch. The ticking seconds hand will "jiggle" your mouse.
