ML Palo Alto or CS LA?
Which one is better for a summer analyst position? ML PA offer is for tech banking where CS LA's offer is for FIG.

CS isnt a real big player, no matter whats said
I don't know where you get your information but CS LA does very well. I'm not sure about FIG but they have had some big deals including the Disney - Pixar deal; They do a lot of big name financings too if you are interested in that (Harrah's, Univision) etc. Good ex-DLJ office that places analysts into LGP, Ares fairly regularly. Put a guy in KKR last year too.
MS Menlo Park? CS LA treats summers very well, from what i hear they run their own shop (ex DLJ).
the guy i know who did MS Menlo park said life was slow... by merit of being in menlo park.
is the ML offer for tech or tech M&A - theres a large difference
ML offer is for tech. Why is there a large difference?
CS FIG is not the same as the LA generalist group. CS-LA-FIG has about 7 people in the group.
Don't confuse the two.
CS FIG accounts for 20-30% of CS IBD revenue.
CS LA is way better than ML Palo Alto. ML isn't even a player in tech. It's Basy
CS LA. Or if you're really ambitious, try Montgomery & Company if KKR is what you're aiming at one day.

CS LA FIG is different than the CS LA generalist pool, especially for PE exit opps.
I'd take CS LA generalist over ML Palo Alto or ML NY anyday

What are the exit opportunities for ML tech in PA?
Go CS LA then...ML Tech isnt as good as ML Tech M&A and generally are regarded as lower class citizens in that office...the exit ops arent as great b/c the financial modeling skills arent as strong as the M&A group. CS LA will give you a better exp.
