Thought I would share the list of Ugrad schools Moelis recruits from. Buddy who SAed there showed me, and I thought I would share with you guys.

kidflashi'm pretty sure this differs between branches.

i.e. cornell is a target for nyc, but not for LA

How do you know? I go to one the U.S. schools listed above - I just checked some old career center postings and they didn't differentiate between offices. It just says "Moelis", not "Moelis NY" or "Moelis LA"

As am I, and our career center doesn't have any old postings left for Moelis, but from what I remember, they were targeting NYC.

trazer985UCL??? What the fuck? They're distinctly average in the UK. No subject do they stand out for. Warwick is also borderline, unless this includes the business school for post grads.
not sure how to put this, but you have no idea wtf u are talking about...

Both those schools are heavily recruited from all bbs in london and lol at warwicks postgrad b school now that thing is useless.

absolute bollocks, am heavily involved in the uni application process, and was part of it a while ago. UCL is not considered a top 10, it's distinctly 3rd in London, at best, behind IC and LSE. To recruit from Warwick and UCL, but not Imperial or Bath or Durham is odd, at best.

do you even work in ib? bath and durham are recruited for middle office at best. I mean fuck do a search for other threats on here. bbs are full of guys from warwick, i know a couple of ucl in the industry as well

I take it you mean Stockholm School of Economics

sigh, ok we'll play this out.

http://www.ucl.ac.uk/prospective-students/undergraduate-study/degrees-1…

entry requirements for economics and statistics. A* in maths and 2 other's at A (at best).

No STEP at all. The others I listed do require that.

edit: They do have higher requirements for their maths course, which is unusual given its rankings. There isn't a soul in the land that would put UCL above IC for maths or physics.

I expected people to care more about the harder subjects, and was surprised not to see IC on there.

7 higher maths and 38-39 ib total seems fine to me, cant comment on a levels they are a complete joke compared to ib anyway.

this is lse fwiw, http://www2.lse.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/degreeProgrammes2012/economic…

same req for econ.

I can agree to disagree on ucl, but your warwick comments esp. on post grad are just completly ridicolous lol. I mean fuck for masters you have to completly fuck your undergrad to not make oxbridge, lse or god forbid in case you rly fucked up big time, lbs.

what role and at what tier of firm are you out of my curiosity?

What? LSE doesn't even do Economics and Statistics. It's BSc Statistics and Finance requirement is AAA. It's Mathematics with Economics, possibly the most mathematical degree they have, has A*AA, with no STEP.

Yes, IC has a better reputation for technical degrees. But reputation =/= quality,

IC Maths is obviously world class, with Physics department being extremely good in theoretical phys, plasma and CMP.

UCL Maths department is just as world class, both research and reputation wise. UCL Physics department is great in HEP, quantum info, CMP and nanotech.

Plenty of people choose UCL > Imperial for shitloads of reasons - Imperial is more expensive for international students, it's a dickfest, South Ken is very expensive, they might want a particular professor from UCL or an internship in the LCN. The same works the other way around.

And what the fuck, admission requirements can't t tell you shit about the quality of education. Oxford Physics had AAA until this year, does it mean that its worse than Durham ?

Please don't speak so confidently if you don't know what you are talking about.

daretyMoelis may not consider imperial a "target" but its certainly not a non-target

Of course, I vouch for it, it's amazing :)

These are Evercore's target schools:

Undergraduate Schools

Columbia University Harvard University Massachusetts Institute of Technology New York University University of Michigan University of Pennsylvania University of Texas University of Virginia University of Western Ontario

Most, if not everyone, who works there came from one of the above. Not many Yalies and Princetonians, hence Yale and Princeton are somewhat disregarded. Not because they're bad schools.

Is Indiana the strongest target school in the Midwest outside of Northwestern? Their presence in this industry is huge and it literally all happened in the past decade.

Indiana Kelley is not as strong as Michigan Ross, but they are strong.

I know that at BAML, there was like 1 kid from UMich and none from UChicago while there were like 6-8 Kelley SAs this summer. The only schools that were as well represented were Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, and Vanderbilt.

i go to a t15 undergrad school that's listed as a 'target school' for moelis, but moelis hasn't put up any postings for this year, so i'm guessing we might be dropped. so this list might be outdated.
