Heard 40 laid off in HK - per the Aussie Corporate. Bunch of layoffs in Australia as well apparently

Apologies if this is curt, but this is a very dumb question. It never makes sense to paint ppl that were laid off as “underperformers”. Ppl get laid off because the team is under performing. One of firings - sure.
“Not performance based” per internal source. Just to cut costs because the entire industry is underperforming.
