Morgan Stanley- interested in a new positon before interview for another

Hi,

So I have an interview coming up for Morgan Stanley for an role I have been recuiting for. However, I recently came across a position that I'm more interested in (and better qualified for) than the one I have an interview coming up for. They are in the same division, just different teams. The issue is that one role rotates me across a few areas, whereas the newer postion places me directly in the area I have a career interest in (the whole point I applied for the rotational role was to gain exposure to this area). It is also the same HR recuiter responsible for both of these jobs.

Would it be fine to submit my application for this newer role or would it come across bad in anyway since I'm in the process already? A friend in the industry suggested finishing the current interview process and after obtaining the offer, express your interest in the specific team- is this realistic?

Any help or thoughts are really appreciated!
