Moving from CB to IB as an intern for FT

Seen a lot of posts on this forum regarding CB recently so thought I'd post as well.

Currently working in CB as a summer intern at a BB in NY. I was wondering at the end of my internship how hard it'd be to move over to IB for full time. I love my team and have a very good rapport with them but I think I prefer IB primarily because I think the work is more interesting and more stimulating.

Who do I have these conversations with and when? Currently halfway through my SA stint and performance reviews have been excellent. Do I talk to HR or do I talk to my MD / Directors directly? Also — would this conversation impact my return as a FT in Corporate Banking? I don't want to miss out on a job offer in this environment but would also hate myself if I didn't have these conversations with my team.

Does anyone have experience covering from a CB SA to IBD FT? Please help!
