Bump
completely depends on the EB and even the group within the EB.
to echo above, completely depends on bank / group....
anecdotally I'm at an EB in NY and VPs are getting crushed in my group (analyst-level hours)
Bro, if you weren’t previously an analyst or something, prepare to either have no life for the next 12-18 months as you ramp up, or have your teams despise working with you.
Wow moving from Corp dev to a real bank? Nice jump man. If you’re too scared to post the bank and group, we can’t help you.
This is incredibly common in industry verticals across every investment bank.
Your ignorance and lack of experience is on full display.
Triggered the Corp dev guy lol.
PJT?
Thanks all for the input. The role is within an active HC M&A team at EB say PWP, Lazard, Moelis... I was an IB analyst prior to the CorpDev gig (with a company which has a very active M&A program) so hoping to ramp up fast, but concerned about giving away life completely.
Candidly I'd expect little life if you're joining a busy group (and HC I know at Laz is busy af). Given the VP role of driving deals and overseeing workstreams from analysts and associates, if there is a lot of deal flow at any given time, you'll likely be just as plugged in - especially with wfh.
All three of those HC teams get worked. Good luck man.
If it’s the Moelis Services team - it’s just bad people at top. Watch out what you sign up for
my advice is to put your head down for the first 6-9 months at least, gain the respect of the junior team. you’re more senior sure but to me, new guy coming in immediately trying to maximize work life balance after we all got torched this last year is not a good look.
