MS 2025 SA London

Has anyone heard back after completing OA? How did people do on the OA?

Apparently last year some people with "very well aligned, well above, and well above" last year didn't make it past OA to HV, which is quite scary given that's probably one of the best outcomes you can get

If anyone has any ideas regarding the timeline of when people will hear back after OA that would be great to hear

I did the OA for an off cycle internship. Same as the other guy in the thread. Very well aligned (SJT) and well above on the rest and got rejected 3 days after. Seems like you have to be strongly aligned

Strongly aligned, well above, well above and got rejected for OC internship (London) and full-time (Frankfurt) too :skull:

I think it's because I'm not based in the UK or Germany which is fair enough

Doesn't look like you need strongly aligned to be considered for the next round.

According to this person, very well aligned, well above on everything was enough to get a phone call.

From what I know, most tests are just a baseline assessment. It's supremely unlikely that a "strongly aligned" candidate will always get a HV but are flagged as candidates with high potential. Someone else here has just linked a comment that it's more about the baseline than actually the grade, else they'd probably be interviewing people that aren't the right background for their programmes on the basis of just an SJT result:

Trackr is often inaccurate so would take it with a pinch of salt. Regardless, HVs are sent in batches at every firm so don't be disheartened if you haven't received one.

I have found Trackr/Bristol Tracker to be reliable regarding which stage an application is at, but agree that HVs and interviews are usually sent in batches so you shouldn't feel as though you are being left behind

😢 do you think there's still a chance maybe to get HV. If not, do they send rejection email. I completed my OA on 03 September. Should, I expect to hear back this week whether it's a rejection or HV??

I wouldn’t get your hopes up. And for the rejection email they take quite a bit of time I’ve heard. Would be happy for someone to confirm or deny my previous statement.

As a previous poster has said, very well aligned and strongly aligned does not matter. I mentioned this myself below:

MS phone interview. Now I have a contact at MS HR and asked her how recruiting is done. According to what she said, as long as you average in line or above the requirements you are at least considered for the internship. However as soon as you get one below the requirements you are pretty much insta dinged.Moving on those who are considered are then further screened for Uni, GPA, previous experience. That being said their goal is (probably depends on location and industry though; I am talking about IB) to have people in PI where they screen based on the fact: Who dont we keep. In essence this means that pretty much that everyone that was invited to PI should advance to the next round as long as he has done a bit of preparation. E.g. recent deals, talk about work experience, why MS, why IBHope that helps

Well I only talked with her about IB, they have only three tests there. Besides she said pretty much, I guess if you perform on the other test extremely well you could still be considered. However as long as you fulfill the requirements I mentioned, this should guarantee that at least someone looks at your application.Maybe if you have 4 test they see it a little bit less critical? Dont know about it for sure though. So if you get 3 time well above or above the requirements one time below the requirements you average is still better than in line. The shit I heard was confusing as hell and tbh I feel like summer analyst applications are a ahit ton of luck.

At the end of the day, it's all just a black box. They will have looked at your application and considered moving it forward or not at some point. It's more than just one factor that feeds into your application: imo it's severely unlikely that you'll get dinged for being "very well aligned" and not "strongly aligned" because application processes aren't about skimming the top 1% of test scores if said candidate was completely the wrong profile, ineligible, does not study a suitable subject etc.

:) this gives me hope. Will update you'll if I hear back from them whatever MS decide on my application.

No worries :) I can assure you that just because you didn't get the highest mark or grade, you don't get instantly dinged. Otherwise, it would be a stupid test that only favours people who have sought help from others that have done the test a hundred times. I know people who passed tests at BBs and MBBs with 100% and those who only passed tests with 80% - those who passed with 100% grades didn't get an interview but those with 80% grades did. It's just logical sense at the end of the day.

All tests to my knowledge are purely a baseline assessment as to whether you are capable of doing basic tasks. Once an application is reviewed, selections are made on terms of their application, extracurriculars, CV, experience and (if relevant) the University they study at.

I could still be wrong though in the 1% chance: maybe they only accept only "strongly aligned". But really, they're not going to gamble their brand and relationships with careers' services across the UK on such a small grade that only likely represents 1 in 100 individuals.
