MSc Finance: Is it Worth it?

Hey guys, I wanted to know if you think a MSc in Finance at a top school (Oxford, LSE, etc) is worth it in the long term.

I went to a non-target but managed to get internships at BBs. I have a return offer to start next year at one major bank but I have been thinking if I should first do a MSc Finance at a top institution. I don’t know to what extent does a top Master’s degree benefit me in terms of future career prospects (for PE, hedge funds and so on).

Do you guys think I should do the Master’s program or just stick with my IB offer?

UK guy who did a not particularly related degree at a semi-target and was in a similar position (masters at target vs offer in hand).

Experience is almost always more useful than the extra year or two in education. Besides, as great as target schools look, there’s no guarantee that you’ll get an offer anywhere near as good afterwards and could end up with a worse situation.

I’d take the offer and not look back unless you sincerely wanted to do the masters for academic purposes
