Honestly, you can disagree with his opinions or methods but it seems like he was trying to give you some real advice on building relationships instead of just trying to immediately get a referral. He, nor anyone else, owes you anything so stop acting entitled.
Nah, see I wasn't trying to get a referral. I was literally just asking if could connect me with someone else at the firm so I can get some exposure. Is that now frowned upon?? Also, never said he does owe me anything and if he didn't want to connect me with someone else, that's cool too, but don't be a douche about it.
Yes, it is frowned upon. Stop being so damn entitled and find someone to connect with on your own. He's not getting paid to do that shit for you.

bad apple dude, kiss the ring and move on
Didn't know you needed to network to get into big 4 lol
He works in big 4, probably has a complex
Hey buddy, I said that because I wanted to help you out. Glad I found this though. I’ll go ahead and talk to my friends to make sure you never break into our firm.
Ouch..finance is smaller than people realize, kid should’ve took a bad call in stride and moved on
Look at this guy's posts, he's a freshman trolling
Honestly the guy sounds like a douche (and I personally highly disagree w/ not sending a resume initially), but the whole "asking for other people to talk to" can come off as quite abrasive and can rub people the wrong way.
Agreed
The kid is on his high horse because he's on the other side of these calls. There's no need to be so aggressive.
I personally never respond to anything without a resume so keep it on there.
yup, resumes are hella important
That guy is a douche.
It's my birthday today so I wanna do something nice - how about you DM me, we set up a call later, and you can ask anything you want to know about ER and ECM/DCM IB? (of course if you are interested in those).
Top bloke, fair play to you
I agree with one of the other comments here that says "bad apple" or just move on. Networking can be frustrating and annoying, I understand. On side of things it's hard to see who is at fault here. None of us (commenters) truly know how you came off on the phone call. Maybe you came across as too much of "asking" - maybe you didn't.
He does seem like not the best guy though. The more networking you do you'll just get used to it and build a better sense of who to just forget about and people who are genuine and just want to help a brotha out.
How long was the conversation? Honestly it makes him look embarrassing if he says "immah stop you right there"...also VERY odd IMO that he texts you after the call and being a douche to you. He seems like he wants to help but isn't really the best guy lol.
You could just suck up to him and get the interview though and deal with his BS for now.
Regarding resume - I don't care if someone has one attached or not. If I feel like I want to see a resume, i'll ask for it. A resume tells me nothing, could be amazing and be an idiot on the phone, could be shit but then I actually like the kid and tell him to fix his resume because he was chill.
Networking is an art not a science as stupid as it sounds, but honestly just keep grinding and don't let the bad apples get you this angry where you have to post on here about it. I'm sure you probably masked what type of firm/what firm this is at (may not even be an accounting firm) and that is good, you need to be careful when posting on here. My second year associate literally checks this site all the time just for color on that it's not just all interns looking at these posts.
Good luck bud.
