Need advice navigating group dynamics
I’ve had a rocky but ultimately survivable run as an analyst in a sweaty, political group with too many sub-niches. Twice, I was shielded by seniors on my vertical, but with shifting dynamics I don’t think that protection will last. Right now, I have zero visibility — I’m stuck under a super-controlling associate who prefers to work directly with other juniors, essentially bypassing me and making my role irrelevant in the chain of command.
Shifting into another vertical seems impossible — those spots are crowded and already have their “favorite” analysts. I’ve got about six months until the next review cycle, which could be the final cut. The job market feels brutal, internal transfer options don’t interest me, and I feel sick being stuck in this seat. I can’t move on, but I also can’t stand how miserable I feel here. Why is life so tough sometimes lol
