Need Advice on MM IB

Hi guys, would somebody here who previously did a summer analyst stint at a middle market bank (Piper Jaffray especially but also others) would be willing to PM me with details about their time there? I want to get an unfiltered perspective and appreciate any time and advice you're willing to share!

Hi Penguins, I'm doing a summer analyst stint this upcoming summer with a MM firm and am interested as well. Do you know what the average return offer % is at your firm and how that compares to other firms across the MM space? (I'll be in a non-NY/SF city if that makes any difference). Coming from a non-target and really hoping to capitalize on the internship opportunity, thanks in advance for the help!

I did a summer at a MM and would say don't knock the MMs before you try it. You'll get worked just as much as your BB peers and (probably) make about the same. You'll also get pretty similar experience when it comes to reps (excel, PP, research), but the deals will be smaller and less flashy. If you can get a return offer and are a strong candidate on paper, when you go into FT recruiting you'll be in a really good spot as the MM experience will still get you in the door most of the time.

Anybody have some insight into the best groups at Piper? In terms of deal flow/exit opps, know HC has been their bread and butter but curious as to where the other teams are at
