Networking ettiquette/other questions URGENT (well..sort of..)

Ok, so when I was still in US for exchange I sent out a message on LinkedIn asking a guy for informational interview.

However, unlike Yacht_man's guy (if you are following the forum you should have read this) my guy took ONE Month to reply (I am actually still surprised he replied...) and agree to grab a coffee in NYC

Well the problem is I am already back in Asia now, will continue my studies in Asia for 2 years before I graduate...

So my question is, how should I continue with this lead if I ultimately want him get me an internship interview for a position in NYC next year? (assuming LDR always diffcult to maintain...)

Also, he is in Asset Management, but I am more interested in firm's PE arm and ultimately I want to get interview in that division, how should I approach that?

Wish I am Yacht_man so at least I can meet the guy instead of phone interview.....

Please take this with a grain of salt because I am just a grad student and not yet in the working world but, when you contact him, I would inform him of your situation (i.e., that you have returned to Asia to continue your studies). Then I would mention that you still have a strong interest in his firm and would appreciate it if he would be wiling to do the informational interview by phone.
