Networking from nontarget

I am a freshmen from a small school in the midwest with almost no ties to IB. I have been cold emailing and calling places in Chicago and New York, but it is very dry and often do not hear back.

I have an off cycle sell side internship at a LMM firm doing 50-60 deals a year, but I am having trouble getting some decent connections. Any thoughts or suggestions on what to do?

Start reaching out to banks early, build connections, and keep in touch with them throughout the process. I'd suggest you start LMM -> MM -> BB/EB to make sure you have a few safeties, but certain processes like SocGen, Truist, BNP, Lloyds are certainly doable regardless of school if you start now
