Networking FT Advice

I'm currently recruiting for US FT 2026 IB roles, ideally within TMT groups, given my experience working on a few live VC TMT deals this summer at a semi-reputable family office. Since I come from a non-target school with limited alumni in banking, I've primarily been cold emailing. But I've only had around a 1% hit rate with around 600+ emails sent (including 2 follow-ups).

  1. Is my low hit rate for cold emails normal?
  2. How do you strike the right balance between not spamming an entire team or firm, while still ensuring you connect with at least one banker from each group? I typically try to send one email to each group/bank every day/every other day.

Happy to provide more info over PM.

FT networking is tough, people are a lot less responsive than SA recruiting especially if it's not an alumni
