Networking Guidance

Hi all,

I am a sophomore at a target school cold emailing small boutiques for a sophomore summer internship. I am currently wondering two things:

1: Should I be networking with specific individuals in the related role I would want to intern at, but in a higher-up position such as VP/MD, or should I reach out to talent acquisition/development roles because they are directly involved with the process?

2: How is this for my email template, or should I be more direct since it is a small firm/bank?
Hi (xyz),

I hope that this email finds you well. My name is (xyz), and I am a sophomore studying economics at the (school). If you have any availability, I would love to have the chance to get on the phone with you and learn more about your experience working at (Bank xyz).

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best,
