No Sophomore Summer Internship

Have no internship for sophomore summer but will be doing IB for 2025 summer. Anyone have any recommendations on what to do to seek some or anything else to learn more about the field/improve my skills? Any thoughts appreciated

I’m in the same situation as you. Honestly I’ve come around to realizing that this is my last summer home with family and friends at home, after this it’s going to be back to college, and then work where I’ll have little to no time to do anything. I’ve just been spending my time pursuing hobbies, taking it easy, and sometimes reading finance news/thinking about group selection.

Didn't even bother to recruit sophomore, no point - enjoy last summer with free time

I would just put down some BS on your resume, like "Independent Equity Research Analyst" and make a Wix website and publish 2 or 3 stock pitches over the summer. It shows you still care about finance, and since you did it independently it's not a lie.

ROI is not worth it. Sure it takes up space on a resume but then OP will be asked about it in future interviews. Someone could also think he is BSing if they examine the website closely............ OP, you should take it easy and not break your back over this. You already have junior summer lined up. I don't know what your financial situation is but if you have to work, then a job in retail as others have stated would be fine.

I'm a first year analyst and my staffer has been sending me over to my MD's house on Long Island to cut his lawn every weekend. If you want to work this summer, I'll gladly take you on as an intern
