Not Getting a Return Feels Like Everything Was Taken From You

I know this sounds overly dramatic, and it is, but this past year I was feeling so blissful and content with how things worked out. I gave it my all and found that it was due to headcount reasons that I wouldn't return, and it feels like all that contentment was just flipped upside down. I feel almost embarrassed to come back to school since I know everyone's going to be asking me about it as well. People used to be congratulating me for landing a coveted offer, and while I did think that the praise was undue, it still felt good at least in my direct circles. But now, I'm just scrounging trying to get anything that will take me, and I already know it's going to rain down on my final school year without having something locked.

I could've continued that happy streak, but I've reverted to my sophomore phase as a senior, and I don't know if I even will be getting an offer in IB anymore. No one responds to my networking emails, not even alum, and I feel like I'm in the dark with how things are going to proceed this year.

A part of me is also seriously considering quitting finance and doing med school (have the prereqs/ec's needed) if I'm unable to land something in IB for full time. I guess this has taught me that planning out your life path so far in advance is pretty stupid, especially if I can't even get a fucking return...
