I went in for an interview months ago, got the job. Was interviewed by vp, basically, it is a growing am firm that is trying to get big. Their main backer was a dude that cashed in on the originnate and distribute mortgage model and made millions then did distressed debt for a while and has some hook at finra that lets them know who is getting shut down so they can swoop in and buy at a firesale.

Role for me was going to be entirely cold-calling and passing off-- sounded way sketchy to me, and the fact that the guy told me I was brilliant, just based on resume, made me feel like the place might be filled with boiler-room esque morons. These guys are glorified salesmen that cold call high-net worth individuals and try to pitch them, I think.

As you can probably tell, after being offered the job on the spot, I declined. Spent a few months applying for real internships, now working at a BB in front office for the summer. Watch out for these chop shops, they are still around and will lure you in.

Interesting. Most of my google searches came up with the insider trading scandal. Unfortunately, I am a junior in college and this looks to be my only shot for a summer internship. Is it better than nothing? I'm not committed to them forever (The Firm!) am I?
