Hi Monkeys, I'm a student at US target from Continental Europe, I’ll start FT next summer and I'll apply to H1B next cycle. I am wondering what are the odds H1B is rejected, and what if I'm rejected and my OPT expires (consider I’m from Central Europe so not many applicants). Will my BB transfer to London or somewhere else? Thanks a lot!

Your odds are the same as for everyone else. H1B does not differentiate between countries or origin and jobs. If you have a regular OPT, then it’s roughly a 1 in 3 chance. If you have a STEM OPT, then because the bank can apply multiple times, it’s closer to a 60-80% chance to have at least one of the applications grant you a H1B visa
So international student have a 2/3 possibility they have to leave the US within 12 months? I thought you could apply twice, senior year and 1st year analyst...
Yeah you can apply twice so odds are slightly over 1 in 3, but still below 50% I believe. This changes if you have a STEM OPT.
Even with 70% rejection rate apply twice gives you 51% chance, is there a provision to lower the second chance of an applicant?

You are confusing H1B with the Green Card lottery. It does not matter whether you come from France for H1B sponsorship. The way it works is you have X numbers of available H1B sponsorships and usually 3-4 times that many applicants, so they just randomly pick among applicants who gets H1B

As someone has already mentioned, your country of origin doesn't matter for H1B, unless its Singapore or Chile. If you dont have a US masters degree, your chance of winning in a given year is about 30-35%. With a US masters diploma, its about 50%.

Why are banks even sponsoring International students if 70% or they times they will be sent away? You sure it's just 30%?
You might as well just google the number of applicants and spots - usually its about 200k applicants for 65k visas + 20k spots for US masters holders
Most aren't. The ones that are almost always require internationals to have a STEM OPT, which allows them to apply 4 times for the H1B. This raises the chance of having at least 1 successful application to 80%, which are decent odds

Why can’t you apply to green card as soon as you get FT offer? You will have 24 months before OPT expires, 1 year of school and 1 of OPT. Does this work?
You don't apply for green card, your employer applies for it for you. It's fairly expensive for them, so banks generally don't sponsor until someone reaches VP or at the very least an extremely well-performing superstar associate.
