Off-Cycle Internships
I'm a senior at a US School right now with an FT opp lined up that begins in the summer of 2021. I'm really looking forward to it and see it as a great place with solid people to begin my IB career. However I am graduating this semester and am hoping to do something for the next few months to keep my mind sharp and make some money. Unfortunately staying at college isn't an option for me as I can not afford rent here anymore as my loans only cover me until I graduate.
After some research I found off-cycle IB opportunities that seem to still be recruiting despite the pandemic in Europe. Im a US citizen, can I still apply to these or are we dinged because of visa complications? Also would having a full-time gig lined up hurt my chances? I.e. are they recruiting for people to fill for FT, or would it be beneficial for them to hire someone to help them out without the pressure of hiring me full-time? Finally, how should I network with these firms? IB is a small place and I do not want my FT bank to think I am trying to jump ship so early. I'm fully committed on them but want to have something to do for the next semester. Should I inform my hiring manager that I am seeking opportunities?
