I had this problem when I was a first year especially with a trading floor setup. A few things to make it better:

  • always have a screen up with any document or outlook
  • have low phone brightness or private screen so it does not look like you are texting/getting texts
  • when on a call, have empty document or something up to look at as if you are taking notes

Honestly you just need to stop thinking about it unless you sit there, do nothing and miss all deliverables, noone should care. Just don’t do online shopping in the middle of the day.

Get used to people walking by and commenting on your screen. Get over it. When im working on a slide and it looks bad I put a tag “TBU” at the top in case anyone next to me sees it.

I also like to go in earlier in the morning to have coffee / breakfast and have quiet time before people show up. By the time everyone is here, I’m already working so my anxiety is less.

Headphones really help. The noise stresses me out so much.
