Office anxiety
How do you guys deal with office anxiety? Sometimes I get it so badly that I feel like I have blinders on and it makes it very difficult to think through tasks. Does anyone else experience this and know how to manage it?
what do you mean by office anxiety? is the office causing the anxiety? or you don’t know how to handle your regular anxiety while in the office?
Just anxiety in the office... feels much harder to deal with because you are being monitored. When I'm at home, I can lie down on the bed for 5 minutes and take a break. In the office I don't have this outlet and am much tenser
I make it a point to take at least a 15-20 minute walk outside mid day, either to pick up lunch or just take a break. Phone off, email off. Decompress a bit, and take your mind off work.
I had this problem when I was a first year especially with a trading floor setup. A few things to make it better:
Honestly you just need to stop thinking about it unless you sit there, do nothing and miss all deliverables, noone should care. Just don’t do online shopping in the middle of the day.
Get used to people walking by and commenting on your screen. Get over it. When im working on a slide and it looks bad I put a tag “TBU” at the top in case anyone next to me sees it.
I also like to go in earlier in the morning to have coffee / breakfast and have quiet time before people show up. By the time everyone is here, I’m already working so my anxiety is less.
Headphones really help. The noise stresses me out so much.
