Only male on my team
I don’t know if this has happened to anybody else but I just accepted a new job and it turns out me and my boss are the only males on the team. Has anybody else been outnumbered by women before? I find this very odd and we’re a team of 5
I mean if your boss is a male I don’t see what the problem is the end of the day
What's the problem if his boss is female?
Sometimes female bosses feel like they have something to prove and can be categorized as "hardos" when compared to their male counterparts
To those throwing MS - I'm not saying I agree with this or that it isn't sexist, but rather providing commentary on what I've seen / heard from working or making networking calls. Example - headhunter sets up multiple rounds of interviews at XYZ firm but tells me to prep technicals the hardest before interviewing with the only female. Have had this happen numerous times.
Are you complaining about this? I’d be willing to trade. My group is literally a sausage fest. Definitely would be open to lateral to a platform that gets hiring done right (seemingly the place you are in). Congrats dude
Not complaining just thought it was a bit unusual
How is that "hiring done right?"
never really thought about the fact thats how women can feel all the time in banking and engineering
Lucky man.
So your team is 3/5 women? When I read this post I thought it was you with like 19 chicks, not sure how a pretty even split is that weird?
Nice
We have teams with majority female employees, but the BU overall has more men than women. I don't think the men in those teams feel any different, it is an open plan office after all and you see all kinds of folks walk around. WFH is different, of course. But we are phasing that out, slowly.
The only solution would be to have a non-binary on the team instead of the third woman….
have a orgy
Beat me to it.
MD included?
yea MD gets the anal treatment
No not included, me and my direct boss are the only males on team. Not that type of firm anyway
Congrats! Now you can experience what it's like being a female in banking. Super common in my firm to go full days without another woman in a meeting
Dude ladies have felt this way in finance forever. It’s always been a bros club. Just suck it up and do a good job that’s all that matters.
Lol dude so it’s 2 men and 3 women? “Outnumbered”?
Finance bros be like... is this what empathy feels like?
Lmao
Oh god the horrors a 3:2 female to male ratio
Now you can understand what if feels like to be 1 of 5 black people in an organization with 750 whites, and 300 asians.
I was the only guy on my last team. 4 hard working and determined women. Much respect for them as mentors, coworkers and friends.
Are you in IB?
Nope
This is the most wild post I’ve seen on wso in a very long time.
Is this a troll post? I don't understand how a 3:2 ratio could be problematic for anyone.
I’m not saying it’s problematic but I’ve never been in a role where there’s been more women than men… just saying. Especially in finance I feel this is a little bit unusual. Plus if you think about it I am technically the only male since my male boss oversees the whole team and the rest of the team including me work under him….and they are female
Do you work in HR?
OP probably either works in Investor Relations or HR
