Opportunity cost
Hi,
In midlife crisis right now what to seek help. I’m first year in top BB research group, the group ranks top 1 but the industry is not topical/interesting right now. Problem is things I do right now is not interesting and learning curve low. My goal is to go to a HF one day, hopefully before 30s lol.
Should I think about lateral to IB and then follow the IB/PE/HF road? It’s probably hard to get into good IB groups in current environments with research background. Got some friends help me send resume into hiring group but no reply yet. Would MM IB worth the move?
Trying to do well in this job and switch to more interesting group after two years. Will take more time before can go to buy-side.
Also wanted to switch to risk taking role, but fundamental trading takes over by quant.
Appreciate any advice!
