PE or Corporate Finance Internship Offers - Thoughts?
Hi, I am a sophomore at an Ivy League school. Currently deciding between internship offers at a PE FOF investment manager (GCM Grosvenor) or corporate finance at a Fortune 50 insurance company. Which opportunity will look better/help more with IB recruiting junior year? Thanks in advance.
Definitely the FOF, honestly. Yes, it's different than normal PE, but insurance corporate finance at Prudential or the like is just honestly not that interesting/beneficial unless you're really aiming for financials groups. I'm interested to see what others say, though.
What does the corporate finance role entail?
Not 100% sure
I don't mean to be rude, but how do you have an offer for a role that you don't even know the details of?
My suggestion would be to take the FOF role, unless the corporate finance role is an M&A role. "corporate finance" tends to be a very fluid term and can entail anything from FP&A to accounting to corp dev/M&A.
No, I agree; it is a bit strange that I don't know, but it's all a matter of where there's an opening or where they need more assistance. That's why I'm uncertain of the corporate finance gig and whether or not it's more applicable with the uncertainty risk
